Hello, I'm David Eide-Altman and I offer piano and organ instruction to a wide variety of students of all ages and levels of ability. I am available for instruction virtually via Zoom, or at my home in Niles, Michigan, or at your home on your piano in Niles or Berrien Springs, Michigan. I am a new teacher in the Berrien Springs Virtual Academy Partnership. I also provide private lessons to students of any age outside of the Partnership, visit my Private Lesson Fees and Policies page for more information. I offer organ lessons, but I believe it is best if the student has a minimum of two years of piano instruction and be in the 7th grade or higher before starting organ lessons.
Recently I relocated to Michigan from Maryland, where for 10 years I taught private piano lessons in Atholton Adventist Academy in Columbia, MD. I still teach many of those students virtually via Zoom. I have been a church organist at Methodist and Adventist Churches for 40 years.
Playing the piano has been an important form of self-expression for hundreds of years. During the 19th and early 20th centuries it was the dominant source of home entertainment. Recent studies have shown its power in expanding a variety of mental functions. Ask any piano teacher and they will confirm that the majority of their students score in the top half of their school classes.
Lessons are once a week for 30 minutes for most beginners, children or adults; also 45 or 60 minute lessons are available for anyone, and are required for the more advanced student. During the year students will have the opportunity to play in two recitals and receive weekly practice guidelines.
See the fees and policies page for current rates.
Visit the calendar page for a listing of currently available lessons times.
I invite you to meet with me for a free 30 minute introductory lesson and further discuss your interest in piano lessons for you or your child.
